On Monday and Tuesday, June 16–17, a FISU Coordination Visit was held in preparation for the 2026 FISU World University Championship Cheerleading, which will take place in Gothenburg.
During these two days, representatives from FISU – the International University Sports Federation, the International Cheer Union (ICU), and the Organising Committee of the Championship – comprised of the Swedish University Sports Federation, the Swedish Cheerleading Federation, and Göteborg & Co – came together.
The visit included inspections of accommodations, competition venues, and other key locations that will be central to the event.
In addition to site visits, the days were filled with in-depth discussions and evaluations of various focus areas to ensure alignment with the technical and quality standards required for the championship. Special emphasis was placed on legacy goals, closely tied to Gothenburg’s ambitious efforts in sustainability and long-term impact – a vital aspect of creating an event with lasting value.
“We have a great collaboration with the OC. It has been a wonderful visit to Gothenburg, and it’s been nice to see how well-organized everything has been. I’m truly inspired by the people we’ve met over the past few days.”
– Chloé Dragani, World University Championships & University World Cups Sport Assistant
The visit was highly valuable and further strengthened the collaboration between FISU, the International Cheer Union, the Organising Committee, and other key stakeholders. We are truly excited about the continued journey toward an outstanding FISU World University Championship Cheerleading in Gothenburg 2026.
