New Champions Crowned at the 2026 World University Championship Cheerleading in Gothenburg
With an atmosphere filled with celebration, friendship, and unforgettable performances, the 2026 FISU World University Championship Cheerleading in Gothenburg has officially come to a end.
Over several exciting days, 430 student-athletes representing 16 teams gathered in Gothenburg to compete for university world championship titles across multiple cheerleading disciplines. The championship showcased not only elite athletic performances but also the unique spirit of the university sports community, where athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers came together to create an extraordinary international event.
Throughout the competition, spectators witnessed breathtaking routines, outstanding teamwork, and inspiring displays of sportsmanship. Beyond the pursuit of medals and titles, the championship celebrated the connections formed between athletes, coaches, and delegates, highlighting the power of sport to unite people across cultures and continents.
The success of the championship would not have been possible without the dedication of our international volunteer team. More than 30 volunteers from five different countries contributed their time, energy, and expertise to ensure that every aspect of the event ran smoothly. Their commitment embodied the true spirit of international university sport.
The championship was further strengthened by an exceptional judging panel representing every continent, bringing together some of the world’s most experienced cheerleading officials. Their professionalism and expertise ensured fair and high-quality competition throughout the event.
Throughout the week, Gothenburg served as a welcoming host city, providing opportunities for athletes, officials, and delegates to connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. The championship became a meeting place for cultures from around the world, fostering connections and memories that extend far beyond sport.
As the final medals were awarded and the closing ceremony concluded, attention turned from competition to celebration. Champions were crowned, personal goals were achieved, and countless memories were created. Yet perhaps the greatest achievement of all was the sense of community that developed among participants from around the world.
The 2026 World University Cheerleading Championship has demonstrated once again the power of sport to unite people across cultures, languages, and continents. We are immensely proud to have welcomed the global university cheerleading family to Gothenburg and grateful to everyone who contributed to making this championship such a remarkable success.
