Entry and Visa
To participate in the World University Championship Cheerleading 2026, each delegation must comply with the entry regulations of the host country, Sweden.
This page outlines the procedures to follow based on your status, to ensure a smooth arrival.
Visa
All participants and officials requiring a visa to enter the host country must follow the official process outlined the National authorities.
1. General Requirements
Delegations are responsible for checking visa requirements and initiating the application process in a timely manner.
2. Invitation Letters
To support visa applications, the Organising Committee will issue official invitation letters to registered participants. To obtain these letters:
- Submit the required passport information and personal details of your delegation members by deadline at least 60 days before the event.
- If final team selection is pending, a long list of all potential athletes and officials may be submitted to avoid delays.
Late requests may not be processed in time. Please respect the indicated deadline provided in the event’s invitation letter or website.
3. Who Needs a Visa?
Visa requirements vary depending on the nationality of the applicant. It is the responsibility of each delegation to verify the current regulations through the embassy or consulate of the host country in their respective country.
4. Points to Remember
- Make sure passports are valid for at least six months beyond the expected date of departure.
- Incomplete or inaccurate information may delay the issuance of invitation letters or the visa process.
- FISU and the Organising Committee cannot guarantee the issuance of visas; it remains at the discretion of the host country’s immigration authorities.
Entry Point
To facilitate the arrival of all participants, the OC has designated the following entry points:
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT)
- International flight hub: Landvetter is Sweden’s second-largest airport, serving over 5 million passengers in 2024, with direct service to around 50 international destinations
- Distance to city centre: Approximately 20 km from the city center.
- Distance to Kviberg Arena:
- ~24 km by road
- Estimated travel time: approximately 25 minutes by shuttle bus, notice possible delays may be possible due to the traffic
Gothenburg Central Station (Göteborg C)
- Overview: Gothenburg Central Station is Sweden’s second busiest train station, handling about 27 million passengers annually. It features 16 platforms and serves all major domestic and international lines
- Location: Situated at Drottningtorget in central Gothenburg; directly connected to the busterminal and tram networks.
- Distance to Kviberg Arena:
- Transport from Central Station to Kviberg: The tram lines 4 and 6 go directly from the train station to the Göteborg Kviberg stop. The stop is situated only few minutes from the competition venue and Kviberg Vandrarhem and Kviberg Park hotel accommodations, with total travel time around 20–25 minutes.
Upon arrival, our volunteers with event signage will be present to greet delegations and provide assistance.
Alternative travel option
For our international teams, an excellent travel alternative is to fly to Copenhagen Kastrup Airport (CPH) in Denmark, which is one of Northern Europe’s largest and most connected international airports. From Copenhagen, teams can conveniently travel by direct train to Gothenburg Central Station, our official point of entry for the Championship.
The train journey from Copenhagen Airport to Gothenburg takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes, offering a comfortable and scenic ride along the Swedish west coast. The distance between the two cities is around 300 kilometers, and trains operate frequently throughout the day. This route provides a smooth and eco-friendly travel option for delegations arriving from around the world.
Participants Travel plans
Delegation travel details should be submitted in advance through the FISU Global Management System (GMS), through the Arrivals & Departures Module, latest 1 month before the Championship 30.4.2025 to allow the OC to organise timely and efficient transfers to the accommodation sites.
Please note:
- Transfers will be arranged by the OC from 2nd of June to 8th of June 2026.
- Separate or grouped transfers may be arranged depending on the size of the delegation and arrival schedules.
- If after the submission of the travel plan through the GMS or during the trip there is any incidence, delay or change, please communicate to the OC as soon as possible wuc2026@cheerleading.se.
If travelling by other means (e.g., private car), the OC will provide details about arrival procedures and parking options where applicable.
