Competition
Competitions will take place in venues carefully selected to provide the best possible conditions for athletes and spectators alike. Each site reflects the host country’s commitment to university sport, offering high-quality facilities in a setting designed for international events.
Competition format
The FISU World University Championships Cheerleading 2026 competition will be organized in accordance with the most recent University Technical Rules of the International Cheer Union (ICU).
The event will take place over three days and include the following divisions:
Divisions
- University Coed Premier – 16–20 male & female athletes
- University Coed Elite – 16–20 male & female athletes
- University All Female Premier – 16–20 female athletes
- University All Female Elite – 16–20 female athletes
- University Pom – 16–20 athletes
- University Hip Hop – 16–20 athletes
- University Jazz – 18–20 athletes
- University Pom Doubles – 2 athletes
- University Hip Hop Doubles – 2 athletes

- Day 1 Performance
- Day 2 Performance
- Day 3 Finals
- Minimum top 5 teams per division qualify for the finals.
Entry Rules
- Team divisions:
- One team per country is allowed in each of the following:
- Team Cheer University Large Coed (Premier or Elite)
- Team Cheer University Small Coed (Premier or Elite)
- Team Cheer University All Female (Premier or Elite)
- All Team Performance Cheer divisions (Pom, Hip Hop, Jazz)
- Each country may enter a maximum of 20 athletes + 2 alternates for each of the 6 team divisions available to them.
- One team per country is allowed in each of the following:
- Doubles divisions:
- Each country may enter 2 athletes (no alternates) in each doubles division, following male/female composition criteria.
Officials & Delegation Size
- Maximum total delegation size: 156 participants
- 136 athletes
- 20 officials (including coaches and delegation officials)
- Coaching staff:
- Maximum 14 coaches (2 per team division, 1 per doubles division)
- Delegation officials:
- Maximum 6 delegation officials
Venues

Kviberg Arena – Competition Venue
Kviberg Arena in Gothenburg is a modern sports complex and the official venue for the 2026 FISU World University Championships Cheerleading. The arena offers high-quality indoor facilities suitable for top-level international competitions.
- Competition Hall: Large indoor sports hall with high-quality flooring, lighting, and seating for approximately 1,500 spectators.
- Training & Warm-up Areas: Serneke Arena spaces are used for practice and warmup areas before competition.
The venue has hosted numerous events, ensuring both athletes and spectators enjoy a professional and well-organized event experience.

Trainings
For the 2026 FISU World University Championship in cheerleading, Kviberg Arena in Gothenburg will ensure the use of high-quality, FISU-approved sport equipment, adhering to the regulations set by the International Cheerleading Union (ICU) and FISU. The equipment used in the event will be chosen for competitive cheerleading purposes, ensuring the safety and performance of athletes.
